This development, reported by VisasNews , was officially announced yesterday: from May 6, 2024, Cuba will set up an electronic visa system in place of its traditional tourist card "Tarjeta del Turista" .

The Cuban Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Minrex) confirmed this change in the format of the entry visa to the island via a press release .

Minrex explains that "during the month of May our country will begin to implement a modern system for managing electronic tourist visas, called Evisa, which will offer a more efficient and flexible service to users who request it through through Cuban consular offices abroad .

According to Cuban diplomacy, e-Visa applicants will now be able to start their visa procedure online, with a new system that can be used from any device with an Internet connection.

“In addition to its ease of use, Evisa also stands out for its user-friendliness and its contribution to environmental protection,” adds Cuban diplomacy.

Minrex reveals that "this initiative aims to strengthen security and efficiency at all stages of the tourist visa issuance procedure, from the initial application to border control" .

Towards a gradual deployment of the electronic visa for entry into Cuba for the main source markets from May 6

“With Evisa, Cuba is moving towards the implementation of a more modern consular system adapted to current needs,” rejoices the Cuban Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Yesterday, during the opening ceremony of the FitCuba 2024 International Tourism Fair, the minister of the sector, Juan Carlos García Granda, declared that the e-Visa would gradually replace the tourist card , between May 6 and June 30, 2024 .

The e-Visa for entry into Cuba will be, like the tourist card, valid for a stay of 90 days (single entry), extendable by another 90 days on site.

In addition to a passport, valid at least until the end of the stay, an exit/return ticket and a visa, travelers leaving for Cuba must complete an electronic form on the D'VIAJEROS portal in 72 hours before departure.
