Sorpresa de pan cubano (Bread surprise)

    ▪︎1 Cuban baguette
▪︎Syrup: 1 cup of sugar, 1 cup of water, 2 tablespoons of cooking wine, chopped pineapple, rosemary, 1 tablespoon of butter or oil.
▪︎Milk cream: 1 cup of milk, 1 egg, 4 tablespoons of sugar, 3 tablespoons of cornstarch, 1 pinch of salt, a few drops of vanilla to taste.
▪︎Caramel: Melt a cup of sugar, taking care not to burn the caramel. Add, as an option, a drop of coffee to flavor the caramel.

Cuban family is generally addicted to sweets. Cubans not only love jams, fruits in syrup, or marmalade, but also certain varieties of pastries. Depending on the type of establishment, you can find cakes of poor quality, but there are also master pastry chefs who delight us today with surprisingly fine little sweet sins.
But sometimes it happens that we just have bread and a little more to invent a delicious dessert. It has therefore become a Cuban tradition to make these surprise breads, very simple it is true, but also very good.

The bread is cut into slices without reaching the bottom. The syrup and cream are prepared separately.
Then all the bread is drizzled with the syrup carefully so that the bread does not crumble. Then, the cream is placed between each slice of bread and finally all the bread is covered with it too.
The caramel is prepared last and all the bread is decorated with it. The beautiful cake must be cooled for a while in the refrigerator before serving.
This is how my bread surprise, barely finished, then disappeared as if by magic. I hope to see your experiments in the kitchen soon.
Bon Appetit, and have a very good day.
